Ron DeSantis draws legit heat at WWE card

WWE event
The boobirds were out in Tampa when Top Gov showed up for a pro wrestling event.

Face and heel structures have broken down in professional wrestling since the death of kayfabe, but Florida’s Governor is showing the grapplers how to draw reaction from a crowd — without even cutting a promo.

Ron DeSantis has a less-than-certain political future. But if the rude reception he received at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Tampa is any indication, he may have a future as a pro wrestling baddy.

Multiple tweets from the event depict the governor being greeted by jeers and a mild “You Suck” chant.

It is unclear why DeSantis was booed (perhaps members of the Florida House were in the crowd), but it seemed the heat was legit.

Meanwhile, the Governor stopped over in Clearwater and visited with pro wrestling legend turned beer marketer Terry “Hulk Hogan” Bollea.

There was no word at press time if Hogan is in the mix for vacancies as Chief Financial Officer or Lieutenant Governor, but those who have followed DeSantis as a Governor and candidate for various offices know he has used Hogan’s “Real American” theme song as entrance music over the years.

Interestingly, Hogan got his boo bath the last time he appeared at a WWE event.

While Hogan can’t bump anymore and DeSantis (as far as we know) isn’t a trained wrestler, perhaps a short run with the tag belts might be in order after the Governor leaves office at the end of 2026.

Was it Eddie Graham, the wrassler, who wore white boots?

  • THANKS FOR THIS IMPORTANT ADDITION TO THE ONGOING DIALOGUE.

AG, I know things get slow sometimes, but really.

I mean, you speculating about Hulk Hogan as Lieutenant Governor smacks of desperation. Please cheer up and know that the possibilities will be better tomorrow.

Carry on, and mind the gap.

This story raises questions. Who or what does Rona suck? Is Rona and Hulk a thang? Is Rona unpopular with the WWE crowd because he’s puss in white rubber boots? Do the Tampa fans disapprove of Rona sitting around laughing as he watched Gitmo prisoners tortured? Is Rona on the ropes?

If DeSantis had a chance he’d prob get on his knees and pull a Monica Lewinsky on Trump and Vance.
